Captain Vinay S. Patwardhan

Group Chief Operating Officer

Captain Vinay S. Patwardhan is Group Chief Operating Officer.  A graduate of the training ship Dufferin, Captain Patwardhan has over 50 years of experience in the maritime industry.  In 2005, he joined TCC as General Manager and Director of TCC Singapore for over four years, he successfully modernized and managed fleet operations with a commitment to safety and transparency.  Previously, as President of Teekay Shipping (Canada) Ltd, he founded numerous operational, occupational and environmental safety procedures and standards aimed to promote operational and technical excellence throughout the largest Aframax Fleet in the world.

Captain Patwardhan's professional affiliations have included the following: USCG Towing Safety Advisory Committee, Board of Directors- Bergen Hull Club-Bermuda, Chairman-Bahamas Executive Committee (Tanker Group), Chairman- Intertanko Tanker Safety Panel, Liberian Ship-owners’ Council task force for Malacca Straits traffic regulations; DNV Pacific Technical Committee; 

The research papers he has authored include the following: DNV-“Safety of Oil Tankers- Mapping of Risks in its Operation”; “Safety in shallow waters (Under keel Clearance)”; Nautical Institute/London- “Factors to be considered when implementing Safety Systems in a Mixed Manning Fleet”; Major Oil Company in the U.S.A.-“Feasibility Study of Integrated Export Process for offshore oil terminal on the coast of West Africa”, “Underwriters’ Safety Audit of Corporate Resource Management” for a leading (Scandinavian) underwriter beset by marine casualties.
